This song was originally featured on Virginia's Hush E.P., the second (follow-up) release to her debut album, Sweet Conscience, both of which were released under the independent label, Gig Records.
On Our Own is best known for its bridged phrase, "Never Among Friends" which was specifically added in order to accommodate the title of the independent film for which it later became a feature track for. "Never Among Friends," written by Jason Allentoff, Starred Pete Capella and Kevin Interdonatto.
On Our Own was later released for a second time on Another Kind of Hush and is now being offered on Virginia's newest release, UpSound From the Underground.
lyrics
On Our Own
Can we stop ourselves?
From committing crimes?
When it feels so good,
Pleasure wins again.
We persecute each other,
For each and every flaw.
When we know it's time,
To admit to our own.
So, tell me why?
Why do we fall,
On our own grounds?
Tell me why,
Why do we push,
Each other down?
Tell me why,
Why do we fall,
On our own grounds?
Can you feel it getting stronger?
Every day our lives get shorter?
Can you feel it never among friends?
